Gijang-gun (Governor Jung Jongbok) announced that the Gijang-gun Agricultural Technology Center will officially launch the 'Agricultural Work Proxy Service' in full swing to coincide with the busy farming season.
The 'Agricultural Work Proxy Service' is a program that provides various farming tasks on behalf of local farmers at minimal cost. It was introduced in April 2023 to alleviate the labor shortage in rural areas among vulnerable farming groups and to support continuous agricultural activities.
Starting with 42 cases in 2023, the service completed 86 cases last year, receiving positive feedback from local farmers, especially those in vulnerable groups who face difficulties in farming.
This year, the Center will continue to implement the Agricultural Work Proxy Service and is recruiting eligible participants on an ongoing basis, prioritizing vulnerable groups such as elderly farmers over 70, single female-headed households, and persons with disabilities.
The types of proxy work available are tilling and land preparation (fields), ridge formation (fields), and rice harvesting (paddy fields). Requests can be made for up to 10,000 square meters of additional work, but changes or cancellations may occur depending on work conditions and circumstances.
Kim Hyunggu, Director of the Gijang-gun Agricultural Technology Center, stated, "We will continue to promote the Agricultural Work Proxy Service to ensure convenience and safety in farming for local farmers," adding, "By operating the agricultural machinery rental service in parallel, we aim to provide practical support to those who have difficulty using machinery and managing farmland and farming tasks."
