Melon Analyzes Over 100 Million Playlists
IU's Songs Included in 16.6% of All Playlists
Most Featured Song: Paul Kim's "Every Day, Every Moment"
Singer IU was surveyed as the most loved artist over the past 20 years on Melon, the largest domestic music streaming platform.
On the 24th, Melon announced through 'Data Lab' that IU had the most songs included in playlists by Melon users after analyzing playlist data.
Since Melon started its service in 2004, users have created a total of 102 million playlists over 20 years, which included 12.84 million songs sung by about 1.13 million artists. Additionally, the cumulative number of times songs were included in these playlists reached approximately 8.15 billion.
Among these, playlists containing IU's songs numbered 16.97 million, the highest count. This accounts for 16.6% of all playlists, meaning one out of every six Melon playlists includes IU's songs.
When adding up the number of times IU's songs were included in playlists, it totaled 91.85 million, placing IU first in the number of song inclusions. Playlists containing songs by the group BTS (Bangtan Sonyeondan) numbered 9.5 million, with 68.1 million song inclusions. BTS ranked second in the number of song inclusions after IU. Taeyeon's songs were also loved, appearing in 11.14 million playlists with a total of 35.35 million inclusions.
Looking at the songs most included in playlists, Paul Kim's "Every Day, Every Moment" was included in 3.928 million playlists, ranking as the 'most included song.' The second most included song was IU's "Through the Night," included in 3.438 million playlists.
The third most included song was BTS's "Spring Day," appearing in 3.071 million playlists. Following were Akdong Musician's "How Can I Love the Heartbreak, You're the One I Love," Paul Kim's "Meeting You," and Ailee's "I Will Go to You Like the First Snow."
Among overseas artists, Melon users included many songs by the band Maroon 5 and pop star Justin Bieber in their playlists. Maroon 5's songs were included in 7.65 million playlists, with a cumulative individual song inclusion count of 23.08 million, the highest number of inclusions. Justin Bieber's songs appeared in 8.4 million playlists with 22.41 million inclusions, making him the overseas artist included in the most playlists.
Additionally, the overseas song most included by Melon users was Anne-Marie's "2002," included in 3.024 million playlists. Ed Sheeran's "Shape of You" was included in 2.756 million playlists, ranking second.
