Kiwoom Securities Launches 'Kiwoom REST API' Service

Kiwoom Securities announced on the 24th the launch of the ‘Kiwoom REST API’ service. The Kiwoom REST API is Kiwoom Securities' next-generation API (Application Programming Interface) service, providing individual investors and developers with a more convenient and efficient stock trading environment.

An API is a technology that enables data integration between applications and systems, allowing general investors to easily utilize various financial services such as building automated trading systems and real-time price inquiries.

The Kiwoom REST API allows users to conveniently access core functions such as stock trading and price inquiries on various operating systems (OS) including Windows, Mac, and Linux without the need to install separate programs.

It also supports various programming languages. By supporting languages such as Python and Java, it provides a wide range of users from general individuals to professional developers with various examples and a Q&A board to easily implement automated trading programs.

A feature called ‘AI Coding Assistant,’ which supports generative artificial intelligence (AI) in generating investment strategy source code, is scheduled to be added in April. A patent application for this has also been completed.

Recently, with the launch of ‘NextTrade,’ Korea’s first Alternative Trading System (ATS), the stock market is transitioning to a full-fledged multi-exchange system. This is expected to accelerate competition in trading fees and order processing speed. The proportion of algorithmic trading is anticipated to expand significantly, similar to the U.S. and European markets.

In response to these changes, Kiwoom Securities plans to expand various support measures to meet the demands not only of the digital-savvy 2030 generation but also of professional traders.

A Kiwoom Securities official stated, “This will be a great help to individual investors who found it difficult to start due to complex coding or installation constraints despite having investment ideas,” and emphasized, “When the Kiwoom REST API and AI Coding Assistant are combined, anyone can easily create their own trading logic, providing an innovative opportunity for customers who want to pursue self-directed investment.”
