Gwangmyeong City announced on the 24th that it was recently selected for the '2025 Gyeonggi-do Lifelong Learning Forum Joint Hosting' and the '2025 Gyeonggi-do Lifelong Education Consulting Project' organized by Gyeonggi Province.

Through this selection, the city plans to co-host the 'Gyeonggi-do Lifelong Learning Forum' with the province in June. This year, the Gyeonggi-do Lifelong Learning Forum will be held in six cities and counties, including Gwangmyeong City. The forum, themed 'New Challenges for Lifelong Learning Cities ? From Learning to Regional Assetization,' will discuss ways to effectively utilize local learning resources and expand citizen participation.

Along with this, the city will conduct joint research with Gyeonggi Province to establish the '6th Mid- to Long-Term Comprehensive Development Plan for Gwangmyeong City as a Lifelong Learning City.' This plan must be compulsorily established every five years according to the city's Lifelong Education Promotion Ordinance. With this selection, the city expects to set a more strategic development direction through the objective perspective of external experts.

Jung Chan-su, Director of the Gwangmyeong Lifelong Learning Center, said, "With this selection, Gwangmyeong City has further solidified its status as the nation's first lifelong learning city," adding, "We will continue to develop lifelong learning policies to strengthen citizen capabilities and lead community innovation."
