"Lee Jae-myung Must Apologize"
Seoul Mayor Oh Se-hoon on the 24th welcomed the Constitutional Court's decision to dismiss the impeachment trial of Prime Minister Han Duck-soo, saying, "I welcome his return to duty."
On the same day, Mayor Oh wrote on Facebook, "The reckless impeachment lasted 87 days, and economic normalization is urgent," adding, "I have repeatedly emphasized that Prime Minister Han Duck-soo must promptly return to state affairs to lead the country with stable leadership during the economic crisis."
Mayor Oh assessed that the economic sector suffered the most damage during the impeachment trial period. He said, "During the 87 days when Prime Minister Han was suspended from duty, our economy's production, consumption, and investment indicators all declined simultaneously, with production and investment decreasing at the largest rate since COVID-19," adding, "The supplementary budget preparation and economic diplomacy with the U.S., which were necessary during this time, were halted."
He continued, "In this crisis situation, with even a tariff storm coming from the U.S., we must focus all our capabilities on overcoming the economic crisis with Prime Minister Han's return," and stated, "Now, we need to prepare a supplementary budget for restoring people's livelihoods and immediately restore the previously severed economic diplomacy with the U.S., where he is well-versed."
He also criticized the Democratic Party of Korea, which had pushed for the impeachment. Mayor Oh said, "The act of turning impeachment into a tool for political bargaining is unacceptable," and added, "Representative Lee Jae-myung must apologize to the people for the paralysis and chaos in state affairs."
