Gwangju Gwangsan-gu Launches 'Smart Construction' Era to Prevent Collapses

Real-time Concrete Strength Management with AI
Moving Beyond Manual Methods...Strengthening Safety Systems

Gwangsan-gu, Gwangju is expanding the introduction of an artificial intelligence (AI)-based 'Smart Curing Management System' to local construction sites. The aim is to digitize the management of concrete strength, which was previously measured manually, in order to prevent on-site collapse accidents.

Gwangsan-gu announced on the 24th that it will expand the 'Smart Curing Management System', which uses AI and wireless sensors to measure the temperature and strength of concrete in real time, to both public and private construction sites starting this year. The plan is to scientifically manage the concrete curing process to ensure proper quality and reduce safety accidents.

Gwangju Gwangsan-gu Launches 'Smart Construction' Era to Prevent Collapses Last year, a pilot operation of the smart curing management system was conducted at the construction site of Hanam Danuri Sports Center. Provided by Gwangsan District, Gwangju.

The Smart Curing Management System was piloted last year at the Hanam Danuri Sports Center construction site, and after proving effective in securing structural safety, it has been expanded throughout the region this year. The system will be applied to all public construction projects over 100 square meters and private construction projects subject to architectural review within Gwangsan-gu.

Park Byungkyu, the head of Gwangsan-gu, said, "In the past, many sites measured strength manually or relied on experience," and added, "By introducing the smart system, we will implement systematic safety management for large-scale public and private construction projects and prevent major disasters such as collapses."
