The ‘First Step Foundation Project’ is a program led by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups and the Small Enterprise and Market Service, aimed at strengthening the internal and external capabilities of commercial districts to revitalize alley markets and the local economy.

The commercial district finally selected this time is ‘Sinsan Market Village Shopping District,’ the representative commercial district of Nam-myeon, which secured a total project budget of 200 million KRW (including national funds). This budget will be used to enhance the competitiveness of the shopping district through various projects such as ▲commercial district branding ▲marketing ▲specialized commercial district education.

Sinsan Market Village Shopping District in Nam-myeon, located at the northernmost part of Yangju, plans to leverage its proximity to military bases by promoting civilian-government-military joint content and strengthening the ‘THE Norang’ brand image, which has been cultivated through years of education and festivals. In addition, by linking with projects such as the 2024 Gyeonggi The Dream Regeneration Project, Nam-myeon Sinsan-ri is expected to establish itself as a representative commercial district in the western region.

Mayor Kang Su-hyun of Yangju said, “This selection is a result created by the aspirations of the residents, and we will continue to strive to revitalize the commercial district and establish it as the center of the local economy through continuous support.” He added, “We will not stop at short-term projects but will firmly strengthen the foundation of the commercial district, including modernization of the electronic payment system, safety management, and hygiene and environmental maintenance.”
