Damyang County Launches Promotion Week for 'Tuberculosis Prevention Day'

Damyang County, Jeollanam-do, announced on the 24th that it will operate Tuberculosis Prevention Week in recognition of the 15th Tuberculosis Prevention Day, designated to raise awareness about tuberculosis and highlight the importance of its prevention.

During this promotional week, a tuberculosis prevention campaign will be conducted at Changpyeong Traditional Market and Damyang Traditional Market. Promotional booklets emphasizing the importance of tuberculosis prevention and management will be distributed, along with guidance on daily preventive measures.

If you experience symptoms such as coughing for more than two weeks, fever, night sweats, or weight loss, you should visit a medical institution for an examination. Seniors aged 65 and older can receive a free screening once a year at their local public health center. Tuberculosis is an infectious disease transmitted when Mycobacterium tuberculosis is released into the air through coughing, sneezing, or talking by patients with active pulmonary tuberculosis.
