Six Cine Talk Programs to Be Held
Including Director Lee Ranhee's "3rd Year, 2nd Semester"
Taekwang Group's art house cinema Cinecube will screen nine Korean independent films that garnered attention at the Busan International Film Festival. This event is part of the celebration marking Cinecube's 25th anniversary and the 30th Busan International Film Festival.
Taekwang Group's media content business division, Tcast, announced on the 24th that from the 2nd to the 15th of next month, nine Korean independent films including director Lee Ran-hee's "3rd Year, 2nd Semester" and starring Lee Dong-hwi in "Method Acting" will be screened. The screenings are organized as part of the event "Gwanghwamun-bound Movie Train: Busan International Film Festival Korean Film Screening at Cinecube." "3rd Year, 2nd Semester" is a work that won four awards including the Korean Film Directors Association Plus M Award and Actor of the Year Award. "Spring Night," starring Han Ye-ri and Kim Seol-jin, was invited to the 75th Berlin International Film Festival. "K Number," directed by Jo Se-young, won the Grand Prize at the 50th Seoul Independent Film Festival.
Additionally, films such as "Suyeon's Melody" directed by Choi Jong-ryong, "Kike Will Hit a Home Run" directed by Park Song-yeol, and "The Face of Joy" directed by Lee Je-han will also be featured in this Cinecube screening event.
Cinecube will also hold six Cine Talk programs where filmmakers can directly communicate with the audience. Directors, actors, and film critics will participate to share the production background and behind-the-scenes stories of each work. On the 5th of next month, the Cine Talk for "Suyeon's Melody" will feature director Choi Jong-ryong and actors Kim Bo-min and Choi Yi-rang, with reporter Kim So-mi from Cine21 hosting. On the 7th, director Park Song-yeol of "Kike Will Hit a Home Run" will meet the audience, followed by director Kang Mi-ja of "Spring Night" the next day.
Park Ji-ye, head of the Cinecube team at Tcast, said, "The works screened this time to celebrate Cinecube's 25th anniversary contain unique perspectives and meaningful messages," adding, "We expect to show the strength and potential of Korean independent films to the audience."
