Gyeongbuk Governor Lee Cheolwoo: "Lawmakers Who Supported Impeachment Should Be Held Liable for Compensation Claims"

"Acting President Han Expected to Rush to Wildfire Site"

Gyeongbuk Governor Lee Cheolwoo stated on the 24th, "We must hold the members of the National Assembly who supported the impeachment accountable by filing a claim for compensation against them."

Through his Facebook on this day, Governor Lee said, "While the president's duties are suspended, forcing the impeachment of the prime minister as well has paralyzed state affairs for three months, divided the entire nation, drained our strength, and damaged the country's dignity. We cannot simply let this go," adding, "We must claim all related costs, including lawyers' fees for the impeachment, salaries paid during the suspension, and compensation for damages caused by the paralysis of state affairs, and hold them strictly accountable."

Governor Lee continued, "The impeachment motion against Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs Choi Sangmok must also be withdrawn immediately. The Constitutional Court has stated that a prime minister cannot be dismissed simply for not appointing a constitutional court justice. Even in this situation, attempting to impeach the deputy prime minister for economic affairs is a betrayal of the people in a difficult economic situation and an arrogant challenge to the rule of law."

Governor Lee also said, "While everyone is busy on the ground extinguishing wildfires and caring for disaster victims, it is truly fortunate that Acting President Han Ducksoo will come directly to the wildfire site," and added, "We will do our utmost to quickly extinguish the wildfires and protect the lives and property of the people."
