at Mokpo Station Square
Mokpo City, Jeonnam (Mayor Park Hongryul) announced on the 24th that it recently held a water-saving campaign at Mokpo Station Square, with about 50 participants including members of the Bareuge Salgi Movement Council, the Environmental Movement Federation, and employees from the Clean Water Project Team.
To raise awareness about the global climate crisis, which has reached dangerous levels, and the shortage of drinking water, the UN General Assembly designated March 22nd as 'World Water Day' in 1992, and it has been commemorated annually since then.

During the event, promotional leaflets containing water-saving practices were distributed to citizens and travelers gathered at the station square, and participants toured the Mokwondong shopping district, encouraging people to join the water-saving movement.
Additionally, a promotional booth was set up to display and demonstrate the water-saving effects of four certified water-saving products by the Ministry of Environment, including shower heads, toilets, and faucets, along with various water-saving practice events.
A city official stated, "By saving water, the city can reduce the costs of purchasing raw water and maintaining water purification and sewage treatment facilities, while consumers can benefit from lower water and sewage bills?a win-win effect." The official also urged the public to practice water conservation in daily life, such as in restrooms, kitchens, and bathrooms.
Meanwhile, the city supplies 75,000 tons of raw water daily from Juam Dam and Jangheung Dam regional water supply systems throughout the city, and is making every effort to provide clean water by replacing old water pipes and conducting thorough water quality inspections each year.
