Breastfeeding plays a very important role in strengthening the immunity and healthy growth of newborns. However, many mothers face difficulties in continuing breastfeeding due to returning to work, mastitis, and other breastfeeding challenges. To address these difficulties, Hanam City offers a breast pump rental service to help mothers continue breastfeeding more efficiently.

Using a breast pump allows mothers to adjust their feeding schedules more flexibly. Pumped breast milk can be stored and fed by other family members, giving mothers the opportunity to rest adequately or attend to other tasks. This reduces the mental and physical burden on mothers and helps continuously provide the necessary nutrition to newborns.

The service is available to mothers registered as residents of Hanam City, with a basic rental period of two months. If needed, an extension of one month can be applied for depending on the rental situation. Mothers wishing to use the service can make a reservation by phone with the Misa Health Center Maternal and Child Health Team and then visit in person with identification to receive the breast pump.

Additionally, since 2023, Hanam City has been providing essential consumables such as funnels, baby bottles, and breast milk storage bags free of charge to help reduce the economic burden on mothers and facilitate convenient breastfeeding.

Furthermore, the Gam-il Health Life Support Center and Wirye Health Center also offer breast pump rentals to support mothers in accessing services closer to their homes.

Along with this, Hanam City plans to operate one-on-one breastfeeding classes tailored to the individual characteristics of mothers and babies over a total of six sessions. Through this, the city aims to resolve breastfeeding difficulties and actively support mothers to breastfeed with greater confidence.

A Hanam City official stated, “We will spare no effort to provide various supports so that postpartum mothers can continue breastfeeding more conveniently and stably,” and added, “We will continue to strive to create an environment that is good for having and raising children.”
