Han Donghoon: "Lee Jaemyung and the Democratic Party Must Apologize Before the People"
Constitutional Court Rules on Joint State Administration by Han Ducksoo and Han Donghoon
"Constitutional Court Views It as Willingness for Cooperation Between Executive Branch and Ruling Party"
Former People Power Party leader Han Dong-hoon expressed a welcoming stance on June 24 regarding Han Duck-soo, the Acting President and Prime Minister, resuming his duties. He also demanded an apology from the opposition party along with the withdrawal of the impeachment against Choi Sang-mok, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Finance.
On the same day, Han posted on social media (SNS), "With the dismissal of the impeachment trial, Acting President Han has returned to his duties," adding, "Although late, this is a fortunate development. I hope he will do his best as Acting President to stabilize state affairs."
Han pointed out the opposition party's responsibility regarding the impeachment of the Acting President. He said, "The impeachment motion against the Prime Minister was reckless and irresponsible from the start," and added, "Now, the impeachment motions against Lee Jae-myung of the Democratic Party, government officials, prosecutors, and heads of independent agencies have all ended in nine consecutive defeats." He also demanded an apology from the opposition party related to this matter. Han stated, "Lee Jae-myung and the Democratic Party must bow before the people and apologize, promising not to pursue any more serial impeachments."
He also called for the immediate withdrawal of the impeachment against Deputy Prime Minister Choi. He said, "It must be withdrawn immediately," and warned, "If the hands and feet of the Deputy Prime Minister of Economy are tied while talking about the recovery of people’s livelihoods and the economy, the public will not be able to avoid mocking them."
Meanwhile, the Constitutional Court ruled on the joint state administration between Acting President Han and former leader Han, who was cited as a reason for impeachment. The court stated, "It can be interpreted that the executive branch and the ruling party expressed their will to cooperate to the best of their ability to soothe public sentiment and stabilize the situation after the declaration and lifting of martial law," and added, "There is no indication that there was an intention to obliterate the presidential government system based on the principle of independence between the executive and legislative branches."
