Gyeonggi Province has sent a notice containing major violation cases and precautions to elevator manufacturers and importers to create a safe elevator usage environment.
Elevator manufacturers and importers are companies that manufacture or import elevators and parts for the purpose of selling, renting, or installing them in accordance with the "Elevator Safety Management Act," and are registered and managed by the mayor or governor according to the relevant law. This notice was sent to 118 elevator manufacturers and importers registered in Gyeonggi Province.
Through the notice, Gyeonggi Province provided guidance on major violation cases and disposition standards stipulated in the "Elevator Safety Management Act," including ▲ thorough reporting of changes, business closure or suspension ▲ meeting registration standards ▲ fulfillment of post-management obligations ▲ safety certification of elevators and parts.
Gyeonggi Province conducts a full inspection of all elevator manufacturers and importers in the province every year. Last year, administrative actions were taken, including business suspension for two companies that did not meet registration standards and fines imposed on one company.
Gyeonggi Province plans to continuously support registered companies to comply with laws by sending notices quarterly in the future. In addition, it plans to conduct on-site inspections for 118 companies within the year and provide face-to-face guidance on major violation cases.
Gyeonggi Province will strictly enforce administrative measures if violations are found during inspections to prevent poor elevator manufacturing and strengthen proactive measures.
Lee Jong-don, Director of the Safety Management Office of Gyeonggi Province, said, "Elevators are essential means of transportation in the daily lives of residents, and poor manufacturing is a serious factor threatening safety. We will do our best to prevent poor manufacturing and create a safe elevator environment through guidance and on-site inspections for prevention rather than post-detection."
