Final Round 5-Under at Hog Classic on Senior Tour
Best Finish Surpassing Last Month's Trophy Hassan II 19th Place
Jimenez Claims Victory, Choi KJ and Wi Changsu Tie for 14th
"Baram-ui Sanai" Yang Yong-eun showcased strong finishing power to secure a spot in the top 5.
On the 23rd (local time), at the Newport Beach Country Club (Par 71, 6,725 yards) in Newport Beach, California, USA, the final 3rd round of the PGA Tour Champions Hog Classic (Senior) concluded with Yang Yong-eun shooting a 5-under-par 66, finishing 4th (13-under-par 200), his best season result. This surpassed his previous best this year, a tie for 19th at the Trophy Hassan II last month. He won his first senior tour trophy at the Ascension Charity Classic last September.
Yang Yong-eun started tied for 5th, three strokes behind the leader, and collected six birdies (one bogey). He made stepping-stone birdies on holes 1 and 3 and consecutive birdies on holes 6 and 7 to chase the leader. However, a bogey on the 13th hole (par 3) slowed him down, and although he made two birdies on holes 15 and 18 (both par 5), there were not enough holes left to overturn the lead. He ranked joint 1st with a 100% bunker save rate and was outstanding with 1.54 putts per green in regulation (6th place).
Miguel Angel Jimenez (Spain) maintained his position at the top with a 4-under-par round, finishing at 15-under-par 198. This marked his second win of the season and 15th career victory on the senior stage, earning $300,000 (approximately 440 million KRW) in prize money. Stewart Cink (USA) and Freddy Jacobson (Sweden) tied for 2nd at 14-under-par 199, while Ernie Els (South Africa) finished tied for 5th at 12-under-par 201. Korea's K.J. Choi and Wi Chang-su ended the tournament tied for 14th at 4-under-par 205.
