Hanwha Life Sponsors Vietnam Informatics Olympiad to Discover AI Talent

Hanwha Life Continues Sponsorship for Second Consecutive Year

Hanwha Life announced on the 24th that it will continue its sponsorship of the Vietnam Informatics Olympiad and has established a new Artificial Intelligence (AI) category to discover next-generation talents.

The 6th Vietnam Informatics Olympiad, sponsored by Hanwha Life, was held from the 21st to the 22nd at the Korea-Vietnam ICT University campus under the National University of Danang, Vietnam. The Vietnam Informatics Olympiad is a nationwide IT competition that selects outstanding talents, and Hanwha Life has sponsored it for two consecutive years since last year.

This year’s competition attracted even greater attention with a significant increase in participants compared to last year. The number of participating schools rose by 48.3% year-on-year to 525 schools, and the number of students increased by 19.5% to 2,848, marking the largest scale ever. Attendees from the organizing side included Huynh Cong Phap, President of Korea-Vietnam ICT University and Chair of the Organizing Committee, Le Thi Bich Thuan, Director General of the Danang Department of Education and Training, Hong Jeong-pyo, Head of Communications at Hanwha Life, and Shin Jeong-won, Head of the Green Umbrella Children’s Foundation headquarters.

The competition drew attention with the inaugural introduction of the 'AI Track.' This aligns with Hanwha Life’s emphasis on AI and digital innovation in the global financial industry. Recently, Hanwha Life has established specialized organizations such as the AI Office, AI Research Institute, and Hanwha AI Center (San Francisco, USA) to expand AI-related research and business, enhancing financial service innovation and customer-tailored digital services.

The representative of the winning team in the AI Track, Phung Nguyen Nhu Bach, said, “We are grateful to Hanwha Life for providing a great opportunity to showcase Vietnam’s AI competitiveness to the world.” Participants in the Vietnam Informatics Olympiad have already distinguished themselves on the international stage. Last year’s Super Cup winner competed in the same year’s International Olympiad in Informatics (IOI), winning two gold medals, one silver medal, and one bronze medal.

During the competition, Hanwha Life held the 'Hanwha Life Lecture Series' to provide local participants and residents with knowledge related to global finance and fintech. The event featured Jeong Yoo-shin, Director of the Digital Economy and Finance Institute and Professor of Business Administration at Sogang University, who gave a lecture on “Digital Finance and Korean Fintech and Best Practices.” This helped improve financial literacy among local youth and residents and contributed to the development of Vietnam’s financial ecosystem, creating an opportunity to expand the future customer base.

Hong Jeong-pyo, Head of Communications at Hanwha Life, stated, “The establishment of the AI category and financial education are part of the 'Future Plus Global' project, which integrates Hanwha Life’s strategic direction for overseas CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility). We plan to continue discovering local talents and building financial education infrastructure.”

Huynh Cong Phap, President of Korea-Vietnam ICT University and Chair of the Organizing Committee, said, “Thanks to Hanwha Life’s active sponsorship and the introduction of the AI category, Vietnamese youth have gained a valuable opportunity to grow as future talents. It will develop into a great platform where potential can be realized regardless of social background.”

Meanwhile, Hanwha Life plans to continue various phased projects this year in cooperation with the Green Umbrella Children’s Foundation to nurture talents in Vietnam’s finance and ICT sectors, following last year’s efforts.
