The event, held at the Agricultural Science Education Center of the Paju Agricultural Technology Center, was attended by about 30 people, including Jang Heung-jung, head of the Paju Agricultural Technology Center, related officials, and farm employers.
The Laotian seasonal workers who arrived this time were selected under a business agreement between Paju City, South Korea, and Thoulakhom District, Laos. After completing pre-education on preventing unauthorized departure and understanding Korean culture, they will be assigned to farms to support agricultural activities.
Jang Heung-jung, head of the Agricultural Technology Center, said, “The active participation of the Laotian seasonal workers will be a great help to the development of local agriculture,” and added, “We will do our best to create a stable working environment for the seasonal workers.”
Bourbon, the representative of the Laotian seasonal workers, said, “We are grateful for Paju City’s hospitality and will contribute to improving farm productivity and alleviating labor shortages by living and working with the farm owners.”
Meanwhile, 15 foreign seasonal workers who arrived in February have been deployed to farming activities, and in April, 20 public-type seasonal workers and 36 farm-type seasonal workers are scheduled to arrive.
