As the impeachment ruling against President Yoon Suk-yeol is delayed, the gap in approval ratings between the ruling and opposition parties has narrowed. However, the trend of regime change support continuing to lead regime continuation support beyond the margin of error remains.


According to a public opinion poll released on the 24th by Realmeter (commissioned by Energy Economy Newspaper, conducted from the 19th to the 21st among 1,509 people aged 18 and over using 100% automated wireless phone responses, with a response rate of 7.6% and a sampling error of ±2.5 percentage points at a 95% confidence level), the support rate for the Democratic Party of Korea fell by 0.7 percentage points from the previous week to 43.6%. The People Power Party's support rate rose by 1.0 percentage point to 40.0%. The gap between the two parties' support rates was 3.6 percentage points, within the margin of error (±2.5 percentage points). This is a narrowing compared to the previous week when the Democratic Party led the People Power Party by 5.3 percentage points, which was outside the margin of error.


The approval ratings of the ruling and opposition parties have been fluctuating within the margin of error for 10 consecutive weeks since narrowing to the margin of error in the second week of January.

The People’s Innovation Party was at 4.3%, the Reform New Party at 1.3%, and the Progressive Party at 0.8%.


Regarding the next presidential election, the public opinion favoring regime change continued to lead beyond the margin of error. Support for regime change by the opposition parties decreased by 1.6 percentage points from the previous week to 53.9%. Support for regime continuation by the ruling party increased by 0.4 percentage points to 40.4%. Regime change support led regime continuation support by 13.5 percentage points.
