Recognized for Strengthening Disaster Response Capabilities
and Building Collaborative Systems with Related Agencies
Hapcheon County in Gyeongnam announced on the 24th that it had received an institutional commendation from the Minister of the Interior and Safety in recognition of its outstanding performance in the 2024 Korea Disaster Response Safety Training.
The Korea Disaster Response Safety Training is a comprehensive exercise designed to protect the lives and property of residents from various disasters such as fires and earthquakes. In October last year, the county conducted a large-scale on-site drill at the Hapcheon Dam parking lot under the theme of a large-scale wildfire, with over 200 participants from 13 organizations and private groups, including Hapcheon County.

The training focused on building a disaster response system and capabilities to respond efficiently in the event of an actual disaster through real-time integrated training between the Disaster Safety Countermeasures Headquarters (situation room) and the Integrated Disaster Site Support Headquarters (disaster site), emphasizing information sharing and mission execution among disaster cooperation agencies and collaborative departments.
In particular, to strengthen information sharing and cooperation systems among organizations, the county actively utilized the disaster safety communication network (PS-LTE) and mobilized various support equipment, including two helicopters, to ensure the training was as realistic as possible.
County Governor Kim Yuncheol said, "This is a valuable achievement for Hapcheon County, related organizations, and all residents who participated in the training," adding, "We will make further efforts to address shortcomings identified during the training and create an environment where residents can feel safe and secure."
