Train Service on the Outer Loop Resumes
After Derailment Incident on Line 2
Partial operation of the Seoul Subway Line 2 outer loop train, which was suspended due to a derailment accident on the morning of the 23rd, resumed after 9 hours and 40 minutes.
According to Seoul Metro and others, from 5:30 PM on the same day, the Line 2 outer loop train has been operating on the entire route again. Earlier, around 7:50 AM, a train departing from Sindorim Station collided with a track barrier facility and derailed. As a result, the outer loop train service between Hongdaeipgu Station and Seoul National University Station was suspended.
One of the 10 cars of the accident train derailed, but there were no casualties. The corporation deployed 11 replacement buses on the suspended section, but as subway passengers crowded onto the buses, severe congestion occurred at each bus stop, causing continued inconvenience to citizens.
