Military Manpower Administration, Postponement of Military Service Dates and Exemption from Mobilization Training for Wildfire-Affected Areas

The Military Manpower Administration announced on the 23rd that if conscripts or their family members residing in wildfire-affected areas (Sancheong, Gyeongnam; Ulsan; Gyeongbuk; Gyeongnam) suffer damage, they may be eligible for postponement of military service obligations and exemption from mobilization training.

Postponement of military service obligations applies to those who have received notifications for military physical examination, active duty enlistment, social service personnel/alternative service personnel summons, or mobilization training summons, and who wish to postpone due to damage suffered by themselves or their family members in the disaster area.

Exemption from mobilization training applies to reservists who have suffered damage within the special disaster area; regardless of notification, if the head of the local government submits a 'Damage Confirmation Certificate' issued for the incident, the remaining mobilization training for this year will be exempted. Applications for postponement and exemption can be made via phone, fax, or through the Military Manpower Administration website (application).

Kim Jong-cheol, Commissioner of the Military Manpower Administration, stated, "We hope this measure will help swiftly restore the wildfire damage and allow conscripts to fulfill their military service obligations in a stable condition after recovery."
