Purchase of 235.312㎡ (1st Floor) Unit at Hannam The Hill
Star show host Dong Ji-hyun has been confirmed to have purchased a luxury home worth over 10 billion KRW.
Known as the Jeon Ji-hyun of the show host world, she is reported to have generated sales of about 1 billion KRW per minute and approximately 400 billion KRW annually through home shopping broadcasts. Notably, the company even offered a blank check to prevent her resignation, which is well known.
According to News1 on the 22nd, Dong purchased a unit with an exclusive area of 235.312㎡ (1st floor) in Hannam The Hill, Hannam-dong, Yongsan-gu, Seoul. The ownership registration for the property has been completed. The buyer is Dong Ji-hyun, and no separate mortgage rights were confirmed. It is estimated that the full payment was made in cash.
Dong is believed to have secured the cash for this purchase by selling her previous residence, Sangwoldae, located in Hannam-dong, Yongsan-gu. The seller of the Hannam The Hill property bought it in 2018 for 4.15 billion KRW and made a profit of about 5.85 billion KRW from this transaction.
Hannam The Hill was developed in 2011 on the former Dankook University Hannam-dong campus site, consisting of 32 buildings ranging from 2 basement floors to 12 above-ground floors, with a total of 600 households. Hannam The Hill is home to politicians, business executives, and top celebrities. Among the business executives are Koo Kwang-mo, chairman of LG Group; Kim Ki-nam, vice chairman and CEO of Samsung Electronics; and Kim Taek-jin, CEO of NCSoft. Celebrities residing there include Ahn Sung-ki, Son Sook, Han Hyo-joo, Park Hyo-jin, Lee Young-ja, and BTS’s Jin.
Meanwhile, among the 22 apartment transactions in Seoul last year with prices exceeding 10 billion KRW, three were at Hannam The Hill. In January this year, a unit of the same size as the one Dong purchased was traded for 10.9 billion KRW. Large apartments over 50 pyeong in Hannam-dong, Yongsan, and the Gangnam area, including Hannam The Hill, have continued to show record-high prices this year as well.
According to the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport’s real transaction price disclosure system in February, an apartment at Hannam The Hill with an exclusive area of 233㎡ was traded for 10.9 billion KRW on January 4, setting a new record price. Until October last year, apartments of the same size were traded at 9.9 billion KRW and 10 billion KRW, but the price rose by about 1 billion KRW in just three months.
