Joining the Global Lights-Out Campaign '2025 Earth Hour'
Started in Australia in 2007... Participation from Over 190 Countries
The landmark of Seoul, Lotte World Tower, will turn off all its lights for 60 minutes on the night of the 22nd. This is part of a global nature conservation campaign.
Lotte Corporation, which operates Lotte World Tower, announced that it will participate in the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF)'s global lights-out campaign, "2025 Earth Hour." Earth Hour is a global nature conservation campaign held every year on the last Saturday of March, during which unnecessary lights are turned off for one hour starting at 8:30 PM to raise awareness about the seriousness of climate change and the importance of nature protection.
Starting in 2007 in Sydney, Australia, the campaign now involves over 190 countries. Each year, world-famous landmarks such as the Eiffel Tower, the Colosseum, and the Sydney Opera House turn off their lights to participate. Lotte World Tower has joined this campaign annually since 2019. About 50 companies, including the operators of Lotte World Tower and Mall and its tenants, cooperate in this effort.

The media facade of Lotte World Tower will broadcast content signaling the start of Earth Hour for 30 minutes before and after the lights are turned off for one hour starting at 8:30 PM. The green exterior wall, representing the blue planet, will display the number '60' to indicate the 60 minutes of lights-out.
A representative from Lotte Corporation said, "Lotte World Tower's participation in Earth Hour for seven consecutive years signifies more than just turning off the lights for one hour; it represents a meaningful step toward practical implementation of sustainable ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) management. We ask everyone to join us in this global step toward carbon neutrality."
Meanwhile, this year in South Korea, public institutions and major landmarks such as Seoul City Hall, Seoul Sky, and the Korea National Park Service will also participate in the lights-out event. Voluntary participation from private companies is also expanding. GS Construction, Parnas Hotel, JW Marriott Seoul, Novotel Ambassador Gangnam, Banyan Tree Seoul, Volvo Korea, and Dong-A Socio Holdings are among those joining the campaign.
