Passed the Bar Exam After Six Attempts... Hired by a Law Firm
A man who worked as a security guard at the prestigious Beijing University in China for 10 years has touched local netizens by passing the bar exam after six attempts.
On the 21st (local time), according to reports from Chinese media such as People's Daily Online and Pengpai, Mr. Liu Zheng quit his job as a security guard at Beijing University earlier this year and joined a law firm. After graduating from a private university in 2015, Liu joined Beijing University as a security guard. He was assigned as a staff member at the Beijing University Law School.
While observing the academic atmosphere at Beijing University, one of China's prestigious universities, Liu decided to become a lawyer starting in 2016. He worked as a security guard during the day and studied law at night. He also pursued a master's degree for working professionals at Renmin University of China, and even while handling students' packages and performing night patrol duties, he self-studied for exams.
After six years of effort, Liu passed the judicial examination in 2021 and proudly became a lawyer. People at Beijing University did not hesitate to support him. Professors at the Beijing University Law School gifted him the latest legal textbooks and allowed him to audit classes. Students sent him messages of encouragement. Although Liu did not receive formal legal education, he was able to secure a job at a famous law firm through the recommendation of a Beijing University professor.
In an interview with a local media outlet, Liu also mentioned the "Sisyphus myth." Sisyphus is a figure from Greek and Roman mythology who was punished by the gods to eternally roll a huge boulder up a mountain. Liu said, "The struggle Sisyphus undertakes while climbing to the top enriches a person," and added, "Isn't Sisyphus a happy person?"
