According to the sports community on the 21st, An Se-young was diagnosed with a partial rupture of the right adductor muscle after the All England Open held in the UK on the 17th. Rehabilitation is expected to take about 3 to 4 weeks.


An Se-young first complained of thigh pain during the final game of the semifinals against Akane Yamaguchi (Japan, No. 3) at the All England Open. The pain persisted during the final, and despite also suffering from the flu, she defeated world No. 2 Wang Zhiyi to claim the championship.


Her next goal was the Asian Championships held in China starting from the 8th of next month, but her participation has become uncertain due to the injury. If An Se-young wins the Asian Championships, she will achieve the 'Badminton Grand Slam.' She dominated the 2023 Hangzhou Asian Games and the World Championships, and last year, she won the gold medal at the Paris Olympics.


An Se-young is expected to take about a month to recover and then make her comeback at the Sudirman Cup at the end of April.
