The 15th Gumi Saemaeul National Amateur Tennis Tournament Held

A Tennis Festival Gathering Around 1,400 Participants Nationwide

Gumi City in North Gyeongsang Province will host the 15th Gumi Saemaeul Cup National Tennis Club Tournament for three days from the 21st to the 23rd at three tennis courts in the city, including the Kumo Tennis Court.

The 15th Gumi Saemaeul National Amateur Tennis Tournament Held The nationwide amateur Saemaeul Cup tennis doubles match is taking place in Gumi, Gyeongbuk.

This tournament is organized by the Gumi Sports Council and hosted by the Gumi Tennis Association, with sponsorship from the Gyeongbuk Ilbo.


Additionally, as a Korea Tennis Association (KTA) ranking tournament, it will be divided into five categories: Gaenari Division, Gukhwa Division, Regional Rookie Division, National Rookie Division, and Semi-Open Division.


More than 550 teams and a total of around 1,400 tennis club members from across the country are expected to compete and showcase their skills.


The tournament is open to pure club members as well as leaders from elementary, middle, high school, and university clubs. After the preliminary league, the final winner will be determined in a main tournament knockout format.


The winner of each category will receive a prize of 1.2 million KRW and a trophy, while the runner-up and third-place finishers will also receive prizes and trophies. In addition, those who reach the quarterfinals will be awarded various gifts.


The city attracts more than 15 national-level amateur sports tournaments every year, contributing to the development of local sports and revitalizing the economy. This tennis tournament is also expected to energize local businesses due to the temporary increase in population during the event.


Gumi Mayor Kim Jangho said, "I would like to thank all the athletes and officials who have come to Gumi from all over the country," and added, "I hope you enjoy your stay by visiting local attractions such as Kumo Mountain and Jisan Saetgang Ecological Park during the tournament."


He continued, "I also ask for your interest and participation in the upcoming Asian Athletics Championships in May, and we will continue to attract various sports tournaments to further develop Gumi as a sports and tourism city."
