Namyangju City Council Urban Transportation Committee Holds Meeting with Wangsuk New Town Joint Countermeasures Committee

The Urban Transportation Committee of Namyangju City Council in Gyeonggi Province (Chairman Park Kyung-won) announced on the 21st that it held a meeting with the Wangsu New Town Joint Countermeasures Committee and developers at the Namyangju City Council small conference room on the 20th.

The meeting was organized to listen to the voices of companies and residents accommodated in Wangsu New Town and to discuss smooth corporate relocation and resident migration measures together. Attendees included Park Kyung-won, Chairman of the Urban Transportation Committee, Kim Ji-hoon (Min) Vice Chairman, Kim Ji-hoon (National) Councilor, Kim Young-sil Councilor, Lee Jin-hwan Councilor, Kim Sang-soo Councilor, executives of the Wangsu New Town Joint Countermeasures Committee, developers such as LH, and related public officials.


The executives of the Wangsu New Town Joint Countermeasures Committee requested active support at the council level for various difficulties and suggestions, including △ adherence to the principle of relocation before demolition △ residential instability due to temporary residence contract renewals △ provision of temporary relocation sites for companies △ tax payment issues caused by failure to register relocation after new town compensation ends △ dispersed allocation of relocation housing lots.


In response, the members of the Urban Transportation Committee said, “We deeply empathize with the opinions requested by the Wangsu New Town Joint Countermeasures Committee, and we will maintain continuous interest in issues related to corporate relocation and resident migration and closely consult with relevant departments,” adding, “Developers and public officials should also listen to the citizens and businesspeople with empathy and work to find solutions.”


Chairman Park Kyung-won further stated, “We ask the related parties, including LH, to devise measures to resolve citizen inconveniences related to the renewal of temporary residence contracts for migrants discussed today,” and urged, “Please review practical solutions to prevent any damage to the accommodated citizens and prepare mutually acceptable alternatives before the next meeting.”


Meanwhile, the Urban Transportation Committee of Namyangju City Council announced that it plans to establish a consultation channel between the Wangsu New Town Joint Countermeasures Committee and the council through this meeting and to continuously promote policies that actively reflect citizens’ opinions.
