Hwasun Chonnam National University Hospital (Director Min Jeongjun) announced on the 21st that it received the Presidential Citation at 'Medical Korea 2025,' the largest global healthcare conference in Korea.

Hosted by the Ministry of Health and Welfare and organized by the Korea Health Industry Development Institute, Medical Korea is celebrating its 15th year and is being held at COEX in Seoul until the 23rd under the theme 'AI-Based Personalized Healthcare, Now a Part of Daily Life.'

The 'Global Healthcare Merit Award' is a government commendation established to encourage organizations and individuals who have made significant contributions to the globalization of healthcare, such as advancing Korean medical services overseas and attracting foreign patients, and to promote the global healthcare industry.

Hwasun Chonnam National University Hospital opened the first dedicated department for foreign patients in the Honam region in 2011, providing high-quality medical services in cancer surgery and treatment. It is the only national university hospital to have received the Ministry of Health and Welfare’s 'Korean Accreditation for Healthcare Facilitators (KAHF)' three times, recognizing its excellence.

Since 2010, Hwasun Chonnam National University Hospital has established a specialized care system for foreign patients and provided high-quality medical services with high satisfaction through various medical tourism promotion projects supported by the Ministry of Health and Welfare and local governments.

The hospital is also actively engaged in medical sharing, providing surgeries and treatments to patients in medically underserved areas such as developing countries, leading the way in promoting the excellence of Korean medical care to the world.

Notably, Hwasun Chonnam National University Hospital, which has world-class competitiveness in cancer and immunotherapy, has been named for five consecutive years as one of the world’s best cancer hospitals by the American news magazine Newsweek. Among domestic hospitals, it ranked 8th and was the only non-metropolitan hospital included, proving its top-level cancer care capabilities in Korea.

The hospital has also secured a leading position in cutting-edge medical technology. It is the only hospital in the Honam region to introduce the advanced robotic surgery equipment Da Vinci SP, strengthening its capacity for complex surgeries and providing precise and safe surgical services. Recently, it achieved a cumulative total of 2,000 robotic surgeries.

Director Min Jeongjun stated, "We will continue our efforts, such as introducing cutting-edge technology, to become the 'center hospital for cancer care and research in Asia.' We will present a new paradigm of personalized cancer treatment for foreign patients and create brand value by joining the ranks of the world’s top 100 cancer hospitals."
