On the 21st, the Gwangsan District Council in Gwangju consecutively proposed a variety of ordinances in fields such as welfare, child health, senior citizen support, and artificial intelligence administration.
Yoon Hyeyoung (Democratic Party, Sinheung-dong, Usan-dong, Wolgok 1 and 2-dong, Unnam-dong) proposed the “Ordinance on Supporting the Gwangsan-gu Social Welfare Council.” This ordinance aims to systematically support the operation of the council in accordance with the revised Social Welfare Workers Act. Yoon stated, “I hope Gwangsan-gu will develop into a sustainable welfare community.”
Next, Park Miok (Democratic Party, Proportional Representation) proposed the “Ordinance on Supporting Dental Primary Care for Low-Income Children in Gwangsan-gu.” This ordinance provides the basis for supporting dental treatment costs for elementary school children from low-income families. Park said, “We will carefully monitor welfare blind spots to ensure children can grow up equally.”
An ordinance supporting jobs for the elderly was also proposed. Kim Myungsook (Progressive Party, Bia-dong, Singa-dong, Sinchang-dong) proposed the “Full Amendment to the Ordinance on Supporting Jobs and Social Activities for the Elderly in Gwangsan-gu.” The ordinance includes concrete support measures such as assistance for companies hiring seniors and priority purchasing of products made by the elderly. Kim stated, “We will help seniors live active and happy lives in the community.”
An ordinance addressing digital administration was also introduced. Park Haewon (Democratic Party, Cheomdan 1 and 2-dong) proposed the “Ordinance on Implementing AI-Based Administration in Gwangsan-gu.” The main points include establishing plans for introducing AI administration, public-private cooperation, and mandatory staff training. Park said, “We will make Gwangsan-gu a leading local government in AI administration.”
An ordinance to guarantee mobility rights was also prepared. Gong Byungcheol (Democratic Party, Sinheung-dong, Usan-dong, Wolgok 1 and 2-dong, Unnam-dong) proposed the “Ordinance on the Use of Shared Wheelchair Vehicles for Seniors with Mobility Difficulties in Gwangsan-gu.” This ordinance supports a vehicle-sharing service for seniors aged 65 and older who use wheelchairs. Gong stated, “We will guarantee mobility rights for seniors and expand their opportunities for leisure activities.”
