Last year, they carried out ▲five response operations (33 people, 22 vessels) ▲six marine litter cleanup activities (36 people), and ▲a total of 85 response education and training sessions (698 people) organized by each regional Coast Guard station, actively working to preserve the local marine environment.
In particular, the Wando Ttangkkeut Marine Autonomous Response Team was selected as an outstanding autonomous response team and received the Minister of Oceans and Fisheries Award for its activities in the salvage operation of a capsized sand carrier in 2023.
An official from the West Sea Coast Guard Headquarters said, "This meeting was an opportunity to share the achievements of each regional Marine Autonomous Response Team," and added, "We will strengthen cooperation and do our best in cleanup activities to create a clean and safe sea."
Meanwhile, the 'West Sea Regional Association of the Marine Autonomous Response Team' was launched in 2019 to efficiently and systematically manage 82 Marine Autonomous Response Teams distributed across fishing villages under the jurisdiction of Gunsan, Buan, Mokpo, Wando, and Yeosu Coast Guard stations, and to foster a sense of belonging and unity among members.
