Seoulland - Flowers Festival Filled with the Scent of Spring
In the southern regions, plum blossoms and cornelian cherries are blooming one by one, signaling the start of the spring travel season. Although one might want to rush out immediately to greet spring, many things hold us back. In that case, how about turning your steps lightly to a nearby theme park? To welcome spring, theme parks are presenting festivals filled with the scent of spring. Flowers are a given, and the excitement of the festivals is added as well. Everland has opened its tulip festival in collaboration with Sanrio Characters, and Lotte World is coloring the World Adventure yellow with Pikachu. Let's start the spring trip by visiting the spring festivals at theme parks.
#Everland, Sanrio Characters Collaboration ‘Tulip Festival’ Opens on 21st
The ‘Everland Tulip Festival,’ where you can experience the vibrant spring you have been waiting for all winter along with about 1.2 million fresh spring flowers of over 100 species, has begun.
Everland’s Tulip Festival, where you can experience Korea’s first original Sanrio Characters performance and various character contents alongside colorful spring flowers, is expected to become the hottest place to visit this spring for families, couples, and friends looking for spring outings or date spots.
Running until June 15, this tulip festival follows the story of Sanrio Characters gathering to hold a flower carnival, allowing visitors to experience fantastic character sensory contents including themed zones, attractions, performances, food, and merchandise.
In addition to popular characters from last year such as Hello Kitty, My Melody, Kuromi, Cinnamoroll, Pochacco, and Pompompurin, new characters rising in popularity among the MZ generation like Hangyodong, Kerokerokeroppi, and Usahana have been added, making a total of nine Sanrio Characters to meet.
The character experience spaces have expanded throughout the park from the main gate to the garden, including Four Seasons Garden, Global Fair, Magic Land, and Festival Content Zone, maximizing immersion from the moment visitors enter Everland until they leave.
At the festival’s main stage, the approximately 10,000㎡ Four Seasons Garden, 11 Sanrio Characters themed zones have been set up where visitors can cutely and enjoyably experience each character’s story along with beautiful and colorful spring flowers.
At the Windmill Stage, there is a roughly 7-meter-tall large Cinnamoroll sculpture (ABR) along with a themed food truck where visitors can taste limited daily quantities of popcorn containers shaped like Cinnamoroll and soda-flavored ice cream.
At the carnival game area of rising star Hangyodong, visitors can participate in a lucky roulette game to receive character merchandise gifts.
Also, in front of the large LED screen, a signature photo spot featuring Hello Kitty’s face recreated as a large three-dimensional topiary using beautiful fresh spring flowers is expected to be popular.
Especially here, Korea’s first original performance featuring Sanrio Characters is held daily, drawing great anticipation from Sanrio fans.
Visitors can also enjoy My Melody’s Flower Balloon Garden, Pompompurin’s Flower Circus, and Pochacco’s Marching Band Garden. Kuromi’s Fortune Telling Garden is connected with Kuromi’s Fortune Station in the Alpine entrance Festival Content Zone, offering an expanded character experience through story and interaction.
Attractions where visitors can experience Sanrio Characters in a new way while riding rides are found throughout the park. In Magic Land, the Cinnamoroll themed zone features the Sky Dancing ride, a circular train that spins and floats in the air like making magical cotton candy, decorated as a Cinnamoroll character attraction resembling clouds. Nearby, Cinnamoroll cotton candy and popcorn are also sold.
Food and merchandise in collaboration with Sanrio Characters are abundantly prepared. The Garden Terrace, renowned for its splendid spring flower scenery, has transformed into a Sanrio Characters themed restaurant, newly offering 13 character menu items ranging from meals like Cinnamoroll Beef Stew, Hello Kitty Chicken Salad, Kuromi Berry Donut to snacks and drinks.
With the opening of the Everland Tulip Festival, about 1.2 million bright spring flowers of over 100 species including tulips, daffodils, and muscari bloom in the Four Seasons Garden.
At the Sky Garden Path, the first plum blossom themed garden in the metropolitan area, visitors can sequentially enjoy 11 species of plum trees including Mancheop Hongmae, Yulgokmae, Yongyumae, and various spring flowers according to their blooming status.
Recently introduced four-season garden subscription service ‘Garden Pass’ is also a great way to experience diverse plant contents and programs such as flowers, forests, and gardens newly every month.
The newly installed giant floating bridge between Safari World and Lost Valley allows visitors to explore on foot and observe various wild animals such as lions, giraffes, and elephants up close through the ‘River Trail Adventure,’ which can be experienced by advance reservation on the website.
To celebrate the tulip festival, large-scale performances representing Everland’s day and night are held sequentially, and a multimedia fireworks show combining thousands of fireworks with mapping videos, lighting, and sound is not to be missed.
#Lotte World Transformed into Pok?mon World... "Let's Go on an Adventure with Pikachu"
Lotte World is opening a new chapter in theme park collaborations by partnering with the globally beloved intellectual property (IP) Pok?mon. Following the opening of the spring festival ‘Pok?mon World Adventure: Spring Camp’ on the 2nd of next month, new themes will be introduced for the summer and autumn seasons as well.
Pok?mon World Adventure unfolds with guests becoming Pok?mon trainers exploring the Spring Camp. Visitors travel through a total of 10 themed zones created throughout the park, becoming explorers traveling the Pok?mon world. Each zone will deeply capture the characteristics of various Pok?mon in detail.
First, the attractions, considered the theme park’s highlight, will be transformed with a ‘Monster Ball’ concept. Guests can ride attractions decorated with 10 types of balls including Monster Ball and Master Ball to meet various Pok?mon.
Near the attractions, themed zones where visitors can feel the personalities of popular Pok?mon and take commemorative photos will be set up. Notably, familiar Pok?mon like Charmander, Squirtle, Bulbasaur, and the main character Pikachu will appear.
Themed zones that can be seen and enjoyed visually are also a highlight. At Magic Island, an outdoor space by Seokchon Lake, four themed zones that seem to bring the Pok?mon world to life are created. The ‘Main Bridge’ leading to Magic Castle transforms into ‘Pok?mon Meadow,’ sparkling with countless lights every night to add a three-dimensional effect.
Colorful lighting blends on the floor while vibrant jungle-themed mapping is projected on the Magic Castle walls. Banners with Pok?mon silhouettes hang on street lamps on both sides of the Main Bridge, adding fun in finding hidden Pok?mon throughout the park. The ‘Bulbasaur Hill’ to the left of Magic Castle is decorated as a lively photo zone with real plants. At night, green lights softly illuminate among the plants.
The Magic Castle, a symbol of Lotte World, transforms into a special space that excites Pok?mon fans. The second floor is designed as a Pok?mon experience zone with intricate details. Visitors can enjoy interacting with characters in the Pok?mon world while exploring various props.
The third floor is also expected to unveil a mysterious space shrouded in secrets, further stimulating visitors’ curiosity. The Magic Castle’s internal themed zones will open on March 8, separate from the festival opening date. The ‘Spring Camp Mission Tour,’ which allows visitors to enjoy each Pok?mon themed zone more immersively, will also start on this day. Visitors can purchase an exploration notebook and embark on a journey completing missions throughout the Pok?mon world.
There is also a dedicated space for another popular Pok?mon character, Snorlax. ‘Snorlax’s Field’ will be created at the Meeting Plaza, featuring a giant 3.5-meter-tall ‘Snorlax Balloon’ at its center. Snorlax is portrayed as the largest character in the Pok?mon world, and the themed zone is designed accordingly. Other must-see spots for Pok?mon fans include the ‘Winibini Photo Zone’ where Charizard shows off its fierce appearance amid flames, and the ‘Phantom’s Cave’ on the fourth floor of Adventure.
This Pok?mon collaboration does not end with the spring festival. New seasonal festivals will be held in summer and winter as well, encouraging repeat visits from Pok?mon-loving customers. Kwon Oh-sang, CEO of Lotte World, said, “Through the meeting of Lotte World Adventure’s unique IP and the mega IP Pok?mon, we will further expand synergy and provide richer and more immersive content experiences to guests from home and abroad.”
