The Era of Left-Right Division Has Continued for Over 20 Years
Factional Logic Deepens, and the Nation Is Split in Two
Hong Jun-pyo, the mayor of Daegu, emphasized the need for a leader who can unify the deepening conflict between conservatives and progressives amid the impeachment crisis.
On the 21st, Mayor Hong stated on Facebook, "Among the various qualities a leader must have, none is unimportant, but recently, the ability to unify the people has emerged as the most important virtue."
He said, "I admired the drive, insight, and foresight of former President Park Chung-hee, liked the reformist nature of YS (Kim Young-sam), the flexibility of DJ (Kim Dae-jung), and the common touch of Roh Moo-hyun." He then pointed out, "As the era of left-right division has continued for over 20 years, the gap of factional logic has deepened, and the country has been split into two."
Mayor Hong added, "Is there a superman riding a white horse who can unify my divided country?"
