On the 21st, it was announced that Lee Jaejong, the Democratic Party candidate for Damyang County Governor in the April 2nd by-election, has officially launched and begun activities for an "Election Fraud Monitoring Team" to prepare for any fraudulent or illegal election campaigns.

The Damyang County Governor by-election has previously seen excessive smear campaigns and negative tactics by some candidates, resulting in the disappearance of policy-based and fair elections and creating a chaotic election atmosphere, which has become a serious concern among local residents.

The campaign of Democratic Party candidate Lee Jaejong has appointed Lee Gyuhyun, a member of the South Jeolla Provincial Council, as the head of the monitoring team, and formed a team of 50 members to respond to fraudulent and illegal election activities.

The "Election Fraud Monitoring Team" will monitor negative campaigning and malicious smear tactics, as well as any fraudulent or illegal election activities. In particular, the current Public Official Election Act prohibits the dissemination of false information, defamation, and slander of candidates. The team plans to thoroughly monitor any violations of these laws and immediately report any illegal acts to the Election Commission for strong action.

Candidate Lee emphasized, "The Damyang County Governor by-election should not be an election where candidates slander each other with rumors and false information, but rather an election to select a true worker who will lead the county in accordance with the will of Damyang residents." He added, "I will do my best to ensure a policy-based and fair election focused on resolving local issues and the development of Damyang, rather than negative campaigning."
