Asset Disclosure for 81 High-Ranking Officials by Government Ethics Committee
Seo Changgyo, Vice President of Kyungpook National University, Tops the List with 4.8 Billion KRW

The declared assets of former Minister of the Interior and Safety Lee Sang-min, who voluntarily resigned following the '12·3 Emergency Martial Law,' increased by approximately 650 million KRW to 4.6 billion KRW compared to his previous declaration.
According to the high-ranking officials' occasional asset registration disclosed on the 21st by the Government Official Ethics Committee, the publicly announced price of the Hanyang Apartment in Apgujeong-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul, jointly owned by former Minister Lee and his spouse, rose by 197 million KRW to 3.24 billion KRW compared to the previous report.
Former Minister Lee and his spouse reported deposits increased by 410 million KRW to 1.035 billion KRW through salary savings and inheritance. Of this, 930 million KRW was under former Minister Lee's name. The value of securities held increased by 167 million KRW to 214 million KRW. They also reported assets including health and golf club memberships worth 66 million KRW, a 2014 Mercedes-Benz E300, and a 2021 Grandeur. Their eldest son refused to disclose his assets, citing independent livelihood.
The assets declared by Park Sun-young, Chairperson of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission, who took office in December last year, amounted to 3.47068 billion KRW. Chairperson Park reported land worth 230.84 million KRW in Sinjeop-ri, Buknae-myeon, Yeoju-si, Gyeonggi-do, under her spouse's name, a detached house jointly owned by herself and her spouse in the same area, and buildings including an apartment in Bangbae-dong, Seocho-gu, Seoul, totaling 1.5965 billion KRW.
Hong Jang-won, former 1st Deputy Director of the National Intelligence Service who left the agency immediately after the martial law, held assets worth approximately 2.5 billion KRW. He reported buildings worth 1.7435 billion KRW, including an apartment in Ichon-dong, Yongsan-gu, Seoul, valued at 788 million KRW, and a jeonse lease right for an officetel in Bundang-gu, Seongnam-si, Gyeonggi-do, worth 630 million KRW, farmland in Dangjin-si, Chungnam, worth 321.95 million KRW, and deposits of 353.43 million KRW.
In this asset disclosure, Seo Chang-gyo, Vice President of Kyungpook National University, ranked first with declared assets of 4.818 billion KRW. Deposits amounted to 2.467 billion KRW, and securities to 949 million KRW.
Park Si-hyung, Vice President of Mokpo National University, ranked second with declared assets of 4.375 billion KRW, including land worth 1.14 billion KRW. He owned an apartment in Jamwon-dong, Seocho-gu, Gangnam, jointly with his spouse, with a publicly announced price of 1.24 billion KRW.
Park Hoon, Director of the Korea Meteorological Administration's Next-Generation Numerical Forecast Model Development Project Team, declared assets of 4.1522 billion KRW, ranking third among current officials.
Among retirees, former President Ahn Young-in of the Korea Meteorological Industry Technology Institute declared the highest assets at 4.77672 billion KRW.
This month's asset disclosure covers 81 high-ranking officials whose status changed due to personnel movements, promotions, or retirements between December 2 last year and January 1 this year.
