MOGEF Provides Customized Family Services at 244 Family Centers Nationwide
Visits Dobong-gu Family Center on the 21st to Gather On-site Feedback
Last year, 330,000 people received counseling at the 'Family Centers' operated by the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family (MOGEF). MOGEF plans to actively identify vulnerable and at-risk families in blind spots and respond to restoring family functions, centered on the Family Centers.
According to MOGEF on the 21st, as of the end of December last year, a total of 329,078 people received family counseling at 244 Family Centers nationwide.
The Family Centers provide customized family services such as counseling, case management, education, and resource linkage, reflecting the characteristics and needs of families including multicultural families, single-person households, and single-parent families. Since last year, the specialized projects that were operated by target groups have been reorganized into the 'Vulnerable and At-Risk Family Support Project,' handling a total of 456,759 case managements and 15,760 emergency crisis supports. Going forward, at-risk pregnant women and grandparent-headed families, who are in blind spots of the system, will also be actively identified and supported through the Family Centers.
On this day, MOGEF visited the Dobong-gu Family Center to review the operation status of family support services and encourage the staff. The Dobong-gu Family Center operates programs such as communal childcare sharing spaces, bilingual family environment creation projects for multicultural families, and home education. Its 'Care Sharing Support Program' was selected as an excellent program last year and received the Minister of Gender Equality and Family Award.
Kim Gi-nam, Director of Planning and Coordination at MOGEF, said, "It is very important to safely and reliably provide family support services such as care support and family communication support that reflect the diverse needs of family members in response to social environmental changes," adding, "We will do our best to support services including family care, education, counseling, and cultural programs so that various families, including vulnerable and at-risk families, can receive the necessary support sufficiently."
