Over 40 Companies to Participate
Andong City in North Gyeongsang Province will hold a 'Job Fair for People with Disabilities' at Andong Gymnasium on the 26th at 10 a.m. to create job opportunities and expand employment for people with disabilities.
According to Andong City on the 18th, the fair is hosted by the city and organized by the Andong Council of Organizations for the Disabled, with cooperation from the Andong Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Andong Volunteer Center.
More than 40 companies from various fields, including technology, manufacturing, and services, will participate to provide employment counseling for people with disabilities. The event aims to support the economic independence of people with disabilities and foster a more inclusive employment environment.
◆ Participation of Various Companies, Expansion of Employment Opportunities
Participating companies include food manufacturers such as Nanum Community Master Andongsoju, Andong Jebiwon Cheonghae Food, Takchonjang, and Korea Appliz, as well as vocational rehabilitation facilities for people with severe disabilities such as Cheongok Sheltered Workshop, Chamsarang Sheltered Workshop, Ingyo Sheltered Workshop, and Yeongga Rehabilitation Center. In addition, various companies including Gyeongsangbuk-do Andong Medical Center will actively promote the employment of people with disabilities.
In particular, Jawon Industry, an automobile parts manufacturer, is attracting attention as a company that actively promotes the employment of people with disabilities.
◆ Employment Support Programs
The fair will also strengthen follow-up support by providing free ID photo services through an on-site photo booth for the convenience of participants, along with on-site interviews. In addition, about 20 students with disabilities from local special schools will perform celebratory performances to enhance the atmosphere of the fair.
Andong Mayor Kwon Ki-chang said, "This fair will be an important opportunity to connect people with disabilities and companies," adding, "We hope it will support the economic independence of people with disabilities and help companies recruit excellent talent."
After the fair, Andong City plans to hold a 'Performance Sharing Meeting' to support ongoing communication between job seekers and companies.
Meanwhile, the city is providing jobs to 184 people with disabilities through general, welfare, and specialized job programs. As of the end of February, there are 13,201 people with disabilities in the city, and 138 companies are subject to mandatory employment of people with disabilities.
