Production Team to Edit Out Kim Soo-hyun's Scenes Following Viewer Backlash
Actor Kim Soo-hyun's appearance on the MBC variety show 'Good Day' has been canceled.
The production team of 'Good Day' announced on the 20th, "The 6th episode scheduled to air on the 23rd will take a one-week break for program reorganization."
'Good Day,' which premiered last month, is a music project where singer G-Dragon collaborates with various figures to complete the 'Song of the Year.' The program attracted attention as it was produced by PD Kim Tae-ho, who established the independent production company TEO and reunited with MBC after three years.
Kim Soo-hyun appeared as a member of the so-called '88s,' a group of friends the same age as G-Dragon, and was active from the early episodes.
The production team of MBC entertainment program 'Good Day' announced that they will edit the screen time of actor Kim Soo-hyun. MBC 'Good Day' video capture.
However, recently, allegations surfaced that Kim Soo-hyun had been in a relationship with the late Kim Sae-ron for several years, leading to a flood of demands for Kim Soo-hyun's withdrawal on the 'Good Day' viewer board. Despite the controversy, Kim Soo-hyun proceeded with the recording of 'Good Day,' and appeared in group shots with the cast in the 5th episode aired on the 16th.
As the controversy intensified, the production team issued a statement on the 17th, saying, "We recognize the seriousness of the controversy surrounding the cast member and are prioritizing viewer reactions while continuing production," and added, "We have decided to edit out as much of Kim Soo-hyun's appearances as possible."
Meanwhile, Kim Soo-hyun's agency Gold Medalist stated that while the relationship was true, it did not begin when Kim Sae-ron was a minor. Regarding claims that Kim Soo-hyun pressured Kim Sae-ron to repay debts, the agency explained, "Kim Soo-hyun never lent money to Kim Sae-ron nor demanded repayment."
