Woo Seunghee, Yeongam County Governor, Urges Complete Vaccination and Thorough Disinfection

Consecutive Emergency Meetings on Foot-and-Mouth Disease Prevention Measures
"Calling on Everyone to Fulfill Their Roles for Early Eradication"

On the 19th, Yeongam County Governor Woo Seunghee held consecutive emergency meetings on foot-and-mouth disease prevention measures with the heads of local agricultural and livestock cooperatives and representatives of livestock farmers outside the quarantine zone.


According to the county on the 20th, the emergency meetings were held to accurately explain Yeongam County's current foot-and-mouth disease prevention status to local leaders and livestock farmers related to animal infectious diseases, to request their cooperation, and to minimize unnecessary confusion that may arise in the field during prevention efforts.

Governor Woo explained that the full capacity of the local community should be mobilized to achieve early eradication of foot-and-mouth disease. He outlined the priorities for prevention: vaccination, disinfection, and the supply of quicklime, and stated that the first stage, “vaccination,” was completed on the 18th.


He went on to say that the community is now focusing its efforts on the second stage, “disinfection,” and asked each agricultural cooperative to thoroughly disinfect using the vehicle-mounted disinfection equipment provided by Yeongam County.


He also suggested that the livestock cooperative designate feed supply vehicles within the foot-and-mouth disease quarantine zone to deliver feed to livestock farmers. To the representatives of livestock farmers outside the quarantine zone, he requested meticulous and thorough disinfection of farms and related facilities. In particular, he promised that the second batch of disinfectant and the supply of quicklime would be distributed in the order of towns and villages that have completed vaccination.


Governor Woo Seunghee emphasized, “For the early eradication of foot-and-mouth disease, the local community must come together with one heart and one mind. The cooperation of local agricultural and livestock cooperatives and representatives of livestock farmers is essential,” and added, “I hope you will accurately communicate Yeongam County’s foot-and-mouth disease prevention status in the field and take all necessary measures, including thorough disinfection.”


Meanwhile, on the 20th, Governor Woo also held an emergency meeting with the Yeongam County Association of Social Organizations, the Village Leaders’ Association, and various item-specific councils to request their cooperation in foot-and-mouth disease prevention.
