According to Uijeongbu City on the 20th, Mayor Kim directly observed the collection and transportation of household waste and the recycling sorting process, checked the installation status of safety equipment at the workplace, and identified areas needing improvement.
In particular, he emphasized that the safety of sanitation workers is paramount and encouraged the wearing of safety shoes and helmets to prevent slip accidents. Additionally, for recycling sorters who work mostly indoors, he urged the use of dust masks to prevent respiratory diseases.
Uijeongbu City sanitation workers play an important role in quickly and systematically collecting various household wastes generated in daily life, maintaining cleanliness and a pleasant environment throughout the city. The recycling sorters at the Environmental Resource Center contribute to minimizing waste and increasing resource recycling rates by sorting collected recyclables by type.
The Uijeongbu City Environmental Resource Center is a basic environmental facility equipped with a recycling sorting plant and a food waste resource recovery facility. It sorts and separates 70 tons of waste daily, and its food waste treatment facility processes 120 tons of food waste per day, recycling it into compost.
Mayor Kim Dong-geun said, “I deeply appreciate the sanitation workers and recycling sorters who dedicate themselves to ensuring that citizens can live in a clean environment,” and added, “We will do our best to improve working conditions by actively reflecting the voices from the field.”
