A woman in her 30s who worked as a soccer coach and private tutor in the United States has shocked the public after it was revealed that she sexually assaulted a 15-year-old male student in a classroom.

According to local media on the 18th (local time), Christina Pomella (30), a soccer coach and private tutor in the western suburbs of Chicago, was charged with sexually assaulting a 15-year-old male student in a classroom.

Pomella's crime was uncovered when the victim's mother checked the student's text messages. The messages exchanged between the two reportedly included content implying sexual contact and intercourse. As a result, the victim's mother reported Pomella to the Downers Grove Police Department on the 15th on charges of sexual assault.

According to the prosecution, the victim testified that he was sexually assaulted by Pomella while receiving private tutoring in a classroom at Downers Grove South High School in December 2023, before the new semester began. The police arrested and detained Pomella the day after the report was filed. The prosecution emphasized, "She used her authority as a teacher and coach to sexually assault a minor student," adding, "Acts of sexual abuse will never be tolerated."

Pomella obtained her teaching certificate in 2017 and had been teaching children in the school's special services department since 2020. From 2021, she had also been part of the soccer team's coaching staff. What is particularly shocking is that Pomella is a married woman who held her wedding last year. She reportedly married a man who had been her boyfriend since college.

Meanwhile, Pomella was released on the condition that she is banned from entering the high school where she worked and prohibited from contacting minors. Subsequently, the school principal, Arwen Rip, informed parents via email that Pomella had been placed on paid administrative leave. The principal stated, "If anyone has information related to the incident, please contact the school immediately. We will support students who have been shocked by this." Pomella's next court appearance is scheduled for the 14th of next month.
