Current Issues and Improvement Tasks in Financial Economic Law
The Bank of Korea announced on the 20th that it will hold the '2025 Financial Economic Law Research Paper Contest.' To raise interest and research atmosphere on financial economic legislation such as the central banking system, submissions are accepted from university (graduate) students and financial sector workers until July 25.
The contest topics can freely address current issues and improvement tasks related to financial economic law, but topics related to the Bank of Korea's work are recommended if possible. Papers should be written between 20 and 40 pages on A4 paper and submitted via email by July 25. Financial economic related materials such as the '2024 Awarded Papers Collection,' 'Korea's Financial System,' 'Korea's Monetary Policy,' and 'Korea's Financial Market,' which can be found on the Bank of Korea website, may be referenced.
Submitted papers will be evaluated based on relevance to financial economics and the Bank of Korea's work, creativity and effort, logical development and writing skills, and usefulness of research results, and winners will be notified individually. Awards will be given around November. One grand prize winner, one excellence prize winner, and two encouragement prize winners will receive certificates from the Governor of the Bank of Korea along with prize money of 5 million KRW, 3 million KRW, and 1.5 million KRW respectively.
The contest has been held since 2014 and this year marks the 12th edition. A Bank of Korea official stated, "Since 2017, award winners who apply for the Bank of Korea's new employee (G5) recruitment within the next five years receive preferential treatment in the document screening process."
