Jeongeup City in North Jeolla Province announced on the 20th that the '2025 Jeongeup Cherry Blossom Festival' will be held from April 4th to 6th along the Jeongeupcheon Cherry Blossom Road and surrounding areas.
This year’s festival slogan is “Romantic Cherry Blossoms, Romantic Jeongeup,” and will be organized as a healing festival filled with beauty and relaxation amidst the fully bloomed cherry blossoms along Jeongeupcheon.
The Jeongeupcheon Cherry Blossom Road, stretching 4 km from Jeongeup IC intersection to Sangdonggyo Bridge, is a famous cherry blossom spot where about 2,000 cherry trees create a spectacular view every spring. Since 1991, the city has held the festival annually during the cherry blossom season, establishing itself as a nationwide spring attraction.
This year’s festival aims to strengthen its identity as a sustainable, eco-friendly event and incorporates the recent popular keyword “wellness” by offering a variety of programs to enjoy alongside the cherry blossoms.
At the festival site, healing programs will be available where visitors can experience Jeongeup’s healthy cuisine and its signature wellness food, Jiwhang. There will also be special experiences such as yoga to relieve stress, meditation using singing bowls and flower tea, providing visitors with unique opportunities.
A wide range of food and hands-on activities will also be offered. Cherry blossom ice cream and cotton candy, available only at the festival, will be prepared, and a retro costume rental zone will be set up for visitors to enjoy the vibe of the 1970s and 80s.
For families out on an excursion, a play zone will be operated so that both children and parents can enjoy time together.
The “Happy Spring Zone” is a space that brings together a variety of delicious foods. A total of 25 booths will offer snacks, food trucks, and local agricultural products. Visitors can enjoy popular K-snacks such as tteokbokki, chicken skewers, healthy topping yubu sushi, cherry blossom oat rice cake galbi salad, and more.
On the weekend of the 5th and 6th, from 7 PM to 10 PM, a 1.4 km section from Saemgol Bridge to Dalhada-ri will be operated as a car-free street, with nightscape lighting installed throughout to create a splendid nighttime atmosphere.
To enjoy sweet music under the cherry blossoms, a special stage will feature jazz band Tune Around and jazz vocalist Ash with a “Cherry Blossom Jazz” performance, while Choi Hangseok and Sinchon Blues will present a “Cherry Blossom Blues” stage.
The festival’s opening ceremony will be held at 7 PM on the 4th, with a glamorous lineup including Hwang Garam, Kim Yongim, Cardio, Jeong Seul, Sunwoo Hyekyung, and Na Mi-ae. In particular, Hwang Garam, who has recently gained popularity by climbing back up the music charts, is drawing much anticipation.
To ensure the festival is run in an eco-friendly manner, environmental protection programs will also be held. On the second and third days of the festival, from 11 AM to 12 PM at Ayanggyo and Jeongjugyo Bridges, a plogging event will take place to raise awareness about the importance of the environment.
Other programs include the “Take a Cherry Blossom Photo” photo zones, the “Catch the Lucky Cherry Blossom” event, and a “Mobile Gift Hunt” where visitors can solve hints on their smartphones to win prizes.
From April 11th to 12th, the “Jeongdaun Cherry Blossom Jumak” will be held at the Saemgoeul Market Peace Parking Lot. Here, visitors can taste 10 types of Makgeolli produced in Jeongeup and Cheongmyeongju from Han Youngseok Fermentation Lab, along with performances by Park Hyunbin and Park Juhui.
Mayor Lee Haksoo said, “As the cherry blossoms are expected to be in full bloom during the festival, I hope visitors can make unforgettable spring memories through the diverse programs. We will thoroughly prepare to ensure a unique festival that highlights Jeongeup’s special characteristics, with safety as our top priority.”
