Samhwa Paint Obtains Low-Carbon Certification for 'I Saenggak Water-Based Exterior Grade 1'

Securing a Competitive Edge in the Public Procurement Market

Samhwa Paint Industrial announced on the 20th that its architectural water-based paint 'I Saenggak Water-based Exterior Grade 1 (18ℓ)' has obtained the Level 2 Low Carbon Certification, which is part of the Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) certification.

The Environmental Product Declaration certification is a system that quantitatively displays environmental information throughout the entire process of products and services and attaches it to the product. Among products certified with the EPD, those that meet the 'Low Carbon Product Standards' can receive the Level 2 Low Carbon Certification.

I Saenggak Water-based Exterior Grade 1 showed a carbon emission of 1.72 kgCO2e/kg throughout the entire process including raw material receipt, production, and distribution. This is approximately 12% lower than the standard value of 1.96 kgCO2e/kg for architectural paints.

With this certification, Samhwa Paint will receive benefits such as additional points in green building certification evaluations, recognition as a green product sales item, inclusion in mandatory purchase targets for local governments and public institutions, and eligibility for restricted and designated competitive bidding by the Public Procurement Service.

Samhwa Paint plans to secure a competitive advantage in the public procurement market and strengthen its market dominance.

A representative from Samhwa Paint stated, "As demand for low carbon products is increasing, the market is expected to gradually expand," and added, "We will practice carbon neutrality and ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) management."
