Reducing Advertising Costs
Easing the Burden on Small Business Owners
Seocho-gu, Seoul (Mayor Jeon Seong-su) announced on the 20th that it will reduce the advertising fee for electronic display boards by 80%, operating them at 1,000 KRW per day to ease the burden on small business owners struggling due to the economic downturn.
Electronic display boards are electronic banners using LED screens, installed in areas with high foot traffic and traffic volume, displaying image advertisements up to 15 seconds long from 6 a.m. to 12 p.m. Currently, electronic display boards are installed at seven key transportation hubs (Yangjae Station, Gangnam Station, Gyodae Station, Sadang Station, Isu Station, Express Bus Terminal, Yangjae Truck Terminal).
This fee reduction was implemented with the intention of alleviating the cost burden for small business owners who desperately need promotion and marketing, while also revitalizing the local commercial district. Small business owners within the district can use the electronic display boards at a reduced price of 10,000 KRW for 10 days (1,000 KRW per day), an 80% discount from the previous 50,000 KRW for 10 days.
Small business owners wishing to apply can do so online through the Seocho-gu Office website and the Bus TV website, and by attaching a small business owner verification certificate, they can receive the fee discount benefit.
In addition, the district has completely replaced all LED electronic display panels. The panels were upgraded to LED panels with 180,000 pixels to improve the display of bright and clear image advertisements.
Seocho-gu removed banner stands in 2008 to eradicate illegal advertisements and indiscriminate banners, and was the first in the nation to install electronic display boards. It is the only autonomous district in Seoul selected for the ‘2025 Youth Participation Outdoor Advertising Design Project’ contest, and plans to develop and install signboard designs reflecting the characteristics of the streets together with residents and students.
Mayor Jeon Seong-su said, “This is an opportunity to promote stores without burden at an affordable cost, and I hope many small business owners use it to significantly contribute to increasing sales and revitalizing the local economy.”
