A current public official affiliated with Chungju-si, Chungbuk, was caught in circumstances involving prostitution with a minor, prompting the police to launch an investigation.
On the 19th, Wonmi Police Station in Bucheon, Gyeonggi Province, announced that they had booked public official A from Chungju-si on charges of violating the Act on the Protection of Children and Juveniles from Sexual Abuse. A is suspected of engaging in prostitution with minor B at an apartment in Wonmi-gu on the 3rd of this month.
The investigation began after B's parents discovered the prostitution circumstances involving A and reported it to the police. The police plan to summon A soon to investigate the specific details of how A met B and the overall incident.
Chungju-si was notified by the police about the start of the investigation and has suspended A from their position and excluded them from duties as of the previous day. It is known that A has taken leave until the end of this month. A Chungju-si official stated, "We will decide on disciplinary actions against A based on the investigation results."
