Ministry of Culture Holds First Meeting with Regional Cultural Foundations Since Establishment of Hanji Foundation

On the afternoon of the 20th, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism will hold the first meeting among regional cultural foundations since the establishment of the Korea Regional Cultural Foundation Federation (Hanjichong) at the Artist's House in Jongno-gu, Seoul.

Yong Hoseong, the 1st Vice Minister of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, will meet with representatives of regional cultural foundations nationwide to discuss cooperation plans to achieve balanced regional development through culture and listen to on-site opinions on the future direction of regional cultural policy implementation. Representing Hanjichong, representatives from 8 metropolitan cultural foundations in cities and provinces and 14 basic cultural foundations will attend. Hanjichong, a nationwide federation of regional cultural foundations, was launched in December last year.


At the meeting, they will explore cooperation measures between the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and regional cultural foundations to implement the key tasks of 'Cultural Korea 2035,' announced on the 6th, and listen to various on-site opinions and difficulties from the regions to achieve balanced regional development through culture.


Vice Minister Yong Hoseong stated, "It is crucial to widely promote the cultural characteristics of regions and to achieve balanced regional development through culture, and the opinions from regional cultural foundations and local sites are more important than anything else. Since balanced regional cultural development is a core task that our government must pursue unwaveringly, we will actively communicate with local sites this year as well and support regional cultural foundations to fulfill their roles."
