No Taemoon, Head of MX Division, Announces at Shareholders' Meeting
Samsung Electronics announced that it will begin applying artificial intelligence (AI) features to its budget Galaxy A series at the end of this month. This strategy targets Apple's entry into the low-cost smartphone market.
On the 19th, No Tae-moon, President of the Mobile Experience (MX) Division, stated this at Samsung Electronics' 56th Annual General Meeting of Shareholders held at the Suwon Convention Center in Gyeonggi Province, in response to questions about measures regarding Apple's new budget model, the 'iPhone 16e.'
Earlier this month, Samsung Electronics unveiled the Galaxy A56 5G and Galaxy A36 5G equipped with mobile AI 'Awesome Intelligence' at MWC 25, the world's largest mobile exhibition held in Barcelona, Spain.
President No said, "AI competitiveness is a differentiating point that Samsung Electronics' Galaxy possesses," adding, "We are expanding AI application from flagship products to budget models, and will officially launch Awesome Intelligence at the end of this month."
He added, "We are building an AI platform that integrates the operating system and user experience to provide an AI experience that connects multiple apps more easily and intuitively," and "To deliver the most personalized AI experience, we are developing a personal data engine to strengthen AI solutions tailored to user characteristics."
When asked when Galaxy products would surpass a 1% market share in China, President No said, "Compared to other global markets, the mobile-related service and content market in China is developing rapidly, and competition with local brands is very intense," adding, "The basic direction of our China strategy is to focus on the premium market."
He continued, "We will accelerate efforts to increase market share in China by enhancing Galaxy's AI capabilities to improve product competitiveness and collaborating with local services and content."
