Incheon City aims to achieve an employment rate (ages 15-64) of 69.1% this year by creating a total of 163,000 jobs focused on future advanced and high value-added industries.
On the 19th, the city held the first Employment Deliberation Committee meeting of the year, chaired by Mayor Yoo Jeong-bok, where they reviewed and approved the detailed annual job creation plans and the establishment plan for job governance reflecting these goals.
The city has set five major strategies: 'High Value-Added Future Jobs,' 'Incheon-Type Specialized Jobs,' 'Youth Dream Challenge Jobs,' 'Customized Balanced Jobs,' and 'Inclusive Communication Jobs,' and has prepared detailed action tasks accordingly.

First, the focus will be on creating high value-added jobs that will lead future industries. To this end, the city plans to expand projects such as training personnel skilled in artificial intelligence (AI) and software technologies, fostering the Personal Air Vehicle (PAV) industry, and developing a blockchain hub city to generate related employment opportunities.
Additionally, new initiatives will be introduced to support bio companies’ overseas expansion and to discover and nurture startups led by the private sector, aiming to simultaneously revitalize the startup ecosystem and create jobs.
Policies for Incheon-type specialized jobs will also be promoted to enhance the competitiveness of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and local industries. In response to the changing industrial environment, the city plans to strengthen industrial security capabilities and reduce employment environment disparities in core local industries such as materials, parts, and equipment, thereby alleviating manpower shortages in SMEs.
Furthermore, to strengthen the employment capabilities of unemployed youth, support will be provided for job-seeking activities such as covering certification exam fees and interview attire, and practical support measures will be offered to young people aspiring to start their own businesses.
Through this plan, the city aims to create 163,000 jobs this year, achieve an employment rate (ages 15-64) of 69.1%, expand high-quality jobs that citizens can feel directly, and enhance employment stability.
Meanwhile, the city has decided to gradually integrate over 120 job-related entities and affiliated organizations within the region, which are currently dispersed across various institutions, into a single system to strengthen policy linkage. Starting with the economic and industrial sectors, participating organizations will be finalized by May, and through full-scale governance operations, local issues and job policies will be organically connected.
Mayor Yoo said, "In a situation where job and employment insecurity are intensifying due to the economic downturn, we will do our best to increase good jobs that citizens can feel and stabilize employment."
