Won Cheonhee, Director of Defense Intelligence Headquarters,
Summoned as a Suspect for Questioning on the 19th
The High-ranking Officials' Crime Investigation Division (Gongsoocheo), which is investigating the '12·3 Emergency Martial Law' incident, summoned Won Cheon-hee, Director of the Defense Intelligence Headquarters (Major General), on the morning of the 19th for questioning as a suspect on charges of rebellion.
It was previously revealed that Director Won met with former Intelligence Command Commander Moon Sang-ho and former Minister of National Defense Kim Yong-hyun on December 2 of last year, the day before the emergency martial law was declared. Suspicions were raised that there was prior discussion about the emergency martial law at this meeting. After analyzing the seized materials for about a month, he was summoned for questioning on this day.
The Special Investigation Unit of the National Police Agency, which is cooperating with Gongsoocheo, revealed that Director Won was previously questioned once as a suspect on charges of rebellion in January. Additionally, three colonels of the Intelligence Command?Ko Dong-hee, Kim Bong-gyu, and Jung Sung-wook?who are accused of occupying the National Election Commission office, detaining staff, and conspiring with Investigation Unit 2, were transferred by Gongsoocheo to the military prosecution early last month and were indicted without detention on the 28th of last month.
