Taebaek City, Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province (Mayor Lee Sang-ho) announced on the 19th that it will hold the musical "Praise of Death," the best steady-seller musical in Seoul Daehangno, as a planned performance for April 2025 at the Taebaek Culture and Arts Center Grand Theater at 7 PM on the 11th and 3 PM on the 12th of next month.

The musical "Praise of Death" is inspired by the story of the genius playwright "Kim Woo-jin," known as the greatest scandal of the 20th century, and Korea's first soprano "Yoon Sim-deok." The work is structured by alternating between past and present, depicting the story from 1921 when the two real-life figures and the fictional character "Man" first met, up until the early morning of August 4, 1926, just before Kim Woo-jin and Yoon Sim-deok jumped into the Korea Strait.
In this Taebaek performance, actor Jung Dong-hwa will play Kim Woo-jin, actor Kim Jae-beom will play Man, and actress Choi Soo-jin will play Yoon Sim-deok. The performance is expected to harmonize a solid story and completeness, addictive numbers, live music composed of piano, violin, and cello, captivating characters standing on the boundary between life and death, and passionate acting by the cast.
The performance is open to viewers aged middle school and above, with all seats priced at 10,000 KRW, and up to 6 tickets can be reserved per person.
Cultural Love members can purchase discounted tickets for 7,000 KRW on-site at the Culture and Arts Center office starting at 9 AM on the 25th of this month, while the general public can make reservations via Interpark (search for "Taebaek" after logging in) and on-site starting at 10 AM on the 26th.
